The Seva Collective is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide healthy and nutritious food to local residents who are suffering from food insecurity. At the same time, we offer an outlet for any community member, especially youth, to channel their energy into “Seva”, meaning selfless service, to serve those in our community who are most in need.
Our Mission
The Seva Collective is a non-profit organization with a mission to provide healthy and nutritious food to local residents who are suffering from food insecurity. At the same time, we offer an outlet for any community member, especially youth, to channel their energy into “Seva”, meaning selfless service, to serve those in our community who are most in need.
Each month we mobilize a diverse intercultural and interfaith 800-member volunteer base serving over 1200 families. Our volunteers help us produce twice monthly distributions that offer an outlet for community members, especially multicultural youth, to channel their positive energy into “Seva”, meaning selfless service. Over the past four years, we have streamlined our food drives to distribute over 50 thousand pounds of food monthly. In addition we hold two large annual gift drives serving 800 families each in December and April, to distribute toys, new clothing, books, sporting goods and other items. We also assemble a Thanksgiving Turkey Drive sponsored by the Mayor of Santa Ana and we conduct a back-to-school drive in August, in conjunction with Making Lives Better with Alorica, distributing 1000 backpacks filled with school supplies. Each month, we also hold smaller localized drives targeting specialized populations at select mobile home parks in conjunction with Congressman Lou Correa's office, and at a local elementary school in conjunction with Santa Ana Unified School District FACE. Furthermore, we've partnered with nonprofits and businesses to target reducing food waste, by distributing roughly 15,000 pounds of nutritious food, monthly, destined for landfill.
